How do I check whether a firm is licensed?
Short answerCategory:Verification
Check the regulator's official register directly — never rely on a picture of a "licence certificate" the firm shows you. For Hong Kong, use the SFC public register of licensed persons and the VATP list; for the US, SEC EDGAR, FINRA BrokerCheck, and OCC / Federal Reserve public lists; for the EU, national registers and ESMA notifications; for Singapore, the MAS Financial Institutions Directory; for Dubai, the DFSA public register. If it is not there, it is not licensed.
Evidence and detail
- Licensed does not mean authorised for RWA. A licence states regulated status and permitted activities, not approval to run tokenization business.
- Watch entity name consistency: many impersonations involve a licensed parent while the contracting entity is unlicensed.
- Our licence database covers 67 firms across Hong Kong China / North America / EU / APAC / Middle East, each linked to the official register for one-click re-checking.
